RULES FOR CRAPS

Craps is an exciting dice game played in casinos and is one of the most social and energetic games on the casino floor. The game involves betting on the outcome of the roll or a series of rolls of two dice. Here are the rules for Craps:

Objective: The objective of Craps is to predict the outcome of the dice roll(s) and place bets accordingly.

The Basics:

  1. Shooter:
    • In Craps, one player (the “shooter”) rolls the dice, and the other players bet on the results of those rolls.
  2. Come Out Roll:
    • The game begins with a “come out” roll, which is the first roll of the dice in a betting round. The come-out roll has different implications for different bets.
  3. Pass Line Bet:
    • The most common bet in Craps is the Pass Line bet. Before the come-out roll, players place their chips on the “Pass Line” area of the table.
    • If the come-out roll is a 7 or 11, Pass Line bets win even money (1:1).
    • If the come-out roll is a 2, 3, or 12, Pass Line bets lose (this is called “crapping out”).
    • If the come-out roll is any other number (4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10), that number becomes the “point.”
  4. Point Phase:
    • Once a point is established, the game enters the point phase. The shooter continues rolling the dice until either the point number or a 7 is rolled.
  5. Betting Options:
    • In addition to Pass Line bets, players have various other betting options available, such as Come bets, Don’t Pass bets, Place bets, Field bets, and more. Each bet has different odds and rules.
  6. Come Bets:
    • After a point is established, players can place Come bets. Come bets work similarly to Pass Line bets, but they are placed after the come-out roll.
  7. Don’t Pass Bet:
    • The Don’t Pass bet is the opposite of the Pass Line bet. If the come-out roll is a 2 or 3, Don’t Pass bets win, and if it’s a 7 or 11, they lose. A roll of 12 results in a tie or “push” (neither winning nor losing).
    • If a point is established, Don’t Pass bets win if a 7 is rolled before the point number and lose if the point number is rolled before a 7.
  8. Odds Bets:
    • After a point is established, players can also place Odds bets on their Pass Line or Come bets. Odds bets have no house edge and pay true odds.
  9. Seven Out:
    • If the shooter rolls a 7 before hitting the point number, it’s called “sevening out,” and the round ends. The dice then pass to the next player in a clockwise direction.

The game continues with new players taking turns being the shooter and placing bets. Craps can seem intimidating at first due to the variety of betting options, but it’s an enjoyable and rewarding game once you become familiar with the rules for craps and different bet types.
